Year 2, Age of New Hope
The war between Angoria and Istra is over.
Queen Thelia McMorrin of Angoria bombed Bezmadan, the capital of Istra, decimating half the city and killing their ruling Achaion known simply as the Chainbreaker. In the power vacuum, The Angorian First House has aided in setting up an interim government for the nation of Istra while they recover from the war.
In Angoria, Queen Thelia has extended her reign past the traditionally accepted period of crisis under the auspices of restoring stability to Angoria and its neighboring nations. Consequently, tensions between the First House and the other four houses are rising.
The city of New Hope is being rebuilt by Eight Quiet Stars and the Bloodwrights, an order of artificers who made the first magical engines using godsblood.
The Ensulian Collection – the world-wide community of scholars, philosophers, and thinkers – declared the changing of an age, ending the Post-Imperium year 743 and beginning with the Age of New Hope.
Faelor has claimed independence as their own city-state along the border of Istra and the Scar. The exact governance of this new state is unclear but it is currently being led by Third Magister Glass of Scryfall. Scryfall has built a tower and moved a presence into Faelor, assisting the rebuilding of Faelor and the extraction of godsblood. In addition, Faelor has offered citizenship to people on both sides of the border who fit their application criteria – namely having a useful trade – and has drawn in people who wish for a better life for their families amongst the war-ravaged lands.
Scryfall’s current governance consists of Voss Masastratum, Oblivion, and Glass as first, second, and third magisters respectively. Due to a new program in Olara recruiting prospective mages in under-privileged areas, the new tower in Faelor, and an increase of access to godsblood, Scryfall is experiencing significant growth.
The Three Lanterns experienced a massive, targeted attack in Aideum that wiped out that branch of the organization completely. While the Lanterns still functions within the other cities in Angoria, their scale of operations have been pulled back significantly, with local chapters becoming more secretive or going to ground altogether.
